Parkinson’s: Grizzly Strides

At Silvertip Training Centre, Parkinson’s: Grizzly Strides is a specialized clinical exercise program created for people living with Parkinson’s disease who want to move with more confidence, improve stability, and build strength in a supportive environment. If you’ve been told to “stay active,” but you’re unsure what’s safe, what works, or how to progress, this program is designed to give you structure, coaching, and consistency.

Parkinson’s: Grizzly Strides isn’t a general fitness class. It’s a purposeful training plan built around real-life movement—walking, turning, stepping, balance recovery, posture, and getting up and down—because those are the skills that support independence.

Who Parkinson’s: Grizzly Strides is for

-> Parkinson’s: Grizzly Strides is a strong fit if you:

-> Have a Parkinson’s diagnosis and want guided training

-> Feel unsteady with turning, backing up, or changing directions

-> Notice shuffling, stiffness, or posture changes

-> Want to reduce fall risk and improve balance reactions

->Want a structured routine with coaching and community support

-> Prefer a program designed around Parkinson’s movement priorities

If you’re not sure whether a group program is the right starting point, we can guide you through an intake and recommend the best next step.

Why a Parkinson’s-specific program matters

Parkinson’s affects movement in unique ways—like gait rhythm, posture, reaction time, turning control, and dual-tasking (thinking while moving). That’s why Parkinson’s: Grizzly Strides focuses on targeted training elements that are often missed in typical classes.

A Parkinson’s-specific program helps you train:

-> Bigger, more confident steps

-> Better turning mechanics

-> Stronger posture and trunk control

-> More stable balance strategies

-> Faster and safer movement transitions

Parkinson’s: Grizzly Strides is designed to help you practice these skills consistently, with support and progression.

Getting started: Intake → Placement → Training

To make sure Parkinson’s: Grizzly Strides is the right fit, we start with a clear entry process.

Step 1: Book an intake

We’ll review your goals, movement confidence, and training history.

Step 2: Optional baseline assessments (when appropriate)

Depending on your needs, we may use established tools to understand your starting point and track progress:

UPDRS (Parkinson’s-related tracking, as appropriate)

TUG (Timed Up and Go)

BEST / MiniBEST (balance systems)

MOCA (cognitive screening, if relevant to planning)

Step 3: Begin training with coaching support

You’ll start with a plan that matches your level, and we’ll progress from there.

Safety and readiness

For group participation, we typically expect:

No active falls

Ability to get to the ground and return to standing without another person’s assistance

Ability to walk for at least 30 minutes continuously (with appropriate pacing)

If you’re unsure about readiness, that’s okay—book a call back or intake and we’ll guide you to the safest starting point.

Common outcomes people notice

With consistent participation, many clients report:

More confidence with walking and turning

Better balance and steadiness in daily life

Improved posture and movement control

Stronger legs and easier sit-to-stand

Reduced fear of falling

Better coordination while moving

Progress looks different for everyone, but the common thread is consistency and the right programming.
